My Big Arrival

Hello !!

ok I just realized my twitter link is incorrect, so here is the right one: https://twitter.com/EdyGanem

We are now done filming the movie and I finally come to write in my diary…typical…

BUT I was soooo busy working, I have a valid excuse; we worked crazy hours and many of my scenes were evening ones and we worked through the nights and then (like a good Vampire) I would sleep through the day :) Not to mention, I did not open my laptop once while filming. What can I say, I am that dedicated to my work !! Finally and honestly, I am actually a bit behind when it comes to blogging (if that is what this is) and I had to come home to LA, open up my laptop, read the instructions on how to do this, get inspired, and share my wonderful ATW memoirs.

Ok, so arriving to Miami was just great; it was a beautiful, hot, sunny day and that is just how I like it so I was as happy as I can be. They had been shooting for about a week already so I was the last one to join the team.

Let me tell you about the actors:

1) We tried to make it so that Kandis (the actress playing Vanessa) and I wouldn’t interact much the first day but it was unavoidable and Kandis and I became friends. I’ve avoided becoming friends (while filming) with actors in previous films because without a doubt it was what I needed for my role. BUT life works in mysterious ways and sometimes you just have to go with the flow and Kandis and I bonding actually helped me with my role. Who knew?

2) Becoming friends and bonding with Nick for our role of husband and wife was super easy as well. I’ve worked with him before and knew he was a very funny guy but it was at the audition for ATW that I realized there was more than funny to him. Then, while filming it was pretty obvious to me that we (Nick, Kandis, and myself) were all on the same page, and there is no better feeling than that of knowing everyone is there to give 100%

ATW Cast Sandwich!

Now let me tell you about everything else..there is so much but let me try to focus and share as much as I can. We had amazing people with amazing style (Dave), amazing personalities (Carol), and very talented salsa dancers (Nicholas). We had a sound team that no one can beat; Kyle and a Norse warrior named Thor. Boom ! there, no one can beat that! One of the last gentlemen left in this world was our DP; Mr. JC Barriga. Our AD was Alex but he’s cool like that so you can just call him “mijo.” This may be starting to sounds like a crazy tale but the Cifuentes sisters were nothing like cinderella and the 2 mean sisters. Nope. Claudia, Lisa, and Karina are all lovely and a very cohesive team and almost act as triplets even though they are not.

So it sounds like it was always bliss on the set. Well it WASN’T. There were times of delirium, frustration, eye-twitching, and giggles. Giggles are fun except when it is 5am and you just want to go and sleep. Or when everyone in the room has the giggles except you. Being wide awake was hard but we had the luck of being in Miami and even the non-coffee drinkers like myself indulged in the magical coladas which transformed us into lean, mean, working machines.

Days and days of shooting felt long while we were living them and then when we looked back they felt like a quick blur. Some of us even experienced and shared hunger because Isaac was making it crazy outside and we couldn’t go get food. Fortunately, we didn’t have major catastrophes due to the weather and we always finished all of our scenes right on time. Before we knew, it was time to leave the wonderful, warm beaches of Miami. It was exciting to know we were going to travel to New York but kind of sad at the same time; unfortunately Kandis was wrapped so it started to feel like we were soon coming to an end.

Once in NYC Nick and I had a wedding photoshoot outside the Plaza Hotel and people kept congratulating us and taking pictures of us. It was pretty entertaining. The thing I loved the most was the wedding veil I got to wear, it was beautiful. After this we did a few more scenes and then Nick was wrapped. Again, kind of a sad moment and then it was just one more day left with two scenes left for me. This last day felt pretty good; it seemed quick and simple but I felt exhausted when we wrapped. It was nap time and then celebration time. And celebration we did.

We will always have the Pickle – the electric pickle in Miami :)
